Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has claimed his side needs to be clinical in front of goal in upcoming games at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Peseiro’s side’s poor marksmanship cost them victory in their opening Group B clash against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
The Super Eagles rallied to take a share of the spoils in the fiercely contested battle.
Victor Osimhen and Zaidu Sanusi both squandered decent chances for the three-time champions in the encounter.
The Portuguese hinted after the game that it is crucial for his team to improve on their finishing.
“We deserved to win this game because we created many chances,” he commented.
“We therefore need to improve on our finishing.”
The game was played in the scorching Abidjan weather.
Peseiro agreed the tough weather made things difficult for his team.
“It’s not easy to play under these conditions,”added the former Saudi Arabia and Venezuela coach.
“We couldn’t press as we should because of the heat.
“We need to manage our energy.”
