just in ;vols finally transfer key player…..
The Tennessee Vols reportedly have a “slight edge” for a key transfer offensive lineman according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Nakos noted on Tuesday that LSU transfer offensive tackle Zalance Heard is down to Oklahoma and Tennessee. And Nakos thinks the Vols have a “slight edge” for Heard thanks to Tennessee’s “top-tier NIL” program.
The Vols are in need of an offensive tackle after Gerald Mincey, who started at left tackle and right tackle for the Vols in 2022 and 2023, transferred to Kentucky earlier this month.
From On3: The top domino still on the board, LSU offensive lineman Zalance Heard had a quiet weekend. He was not on the road taking visits. The former top-25 prospe
ct in the 2023 cycle is down to Oklahoma and Tennessee. Ole Miss was trying to get in the mix but has since backed off. The Sooners and Tennessee both give Heard the option to play in the SEC, but the Volunteers have the top-tier NIL program giving them the slight edge.
VolQuest’s Austin Price said during an appearance on 104.5 The Zone’s “Ramon, Kayla, and Will” on Tuesday morning that he still thinks the Vols are in a good spot for Heard.
“School starts next Tuesday so the rubber’s got to meet the road at some point,” said Price. “I think we’re slowly getting there. And I still feel really, really, really, really good about where Tennessee is at with Lance Heard. But he’s officially not announced yet anything for Tennessee.”
It sounds positive for the Vols when it comes to landing Heard, but until he officially announces, there will be some anxiety in East Tennessee about where he’ll play next fall.
