But how noisy is Beantown compared to the rest of the country?Boston is the fifth noisiest city in the United States, according to a new study by noise control product manufacturer Steel Guard Safety.
The study analyzed key measures of noise pollution in the 100 largest cities nationwide.It also used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Administration and others, according to a Steel Guard Safety spokeswoman.
Additionally, Boston ranks fourth nationally in cities with the highest population density.According to the study, the four noisiest cities in the United States are New York (1), Chicago (2), Jersey City (3) and Newark (4).
