As the All-Star break draws near this week, the Celtics have by far the best record in the NBA.
Despite this, some have not stopped criticizing a team that has been in contention for a title for the past few years but hasn’t been able to overcome adversity.
NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley stated on TNT two weeks ago that he doesn’t believe the Celtics are tough enough to win a championship.
Even though the Celtics don’t always pay attention to what people are saying about them outside of the locker room, Jayson Tatum was informed of these remarks and responded on Tuesday when appearing on CBS Mornings
Tatum remarked, “You have to show respect.” For me and the other younger players,
those are the people that cleared the path.
Although you don’t always have to agree, you do need to recognize the effort they’ve put in. And I recognize that, in these modern times, no one can win a championship unless they actually do it,
so it’s okay if no one gives us credit before we accomplish it. The sounds outdoors don’t always catch our attention. We are willing to take on the task of fighting each other every day in that locker room.
