The Kansas City Chiefs and GEHA, a nonprofit that offers medical and dental benefits to federal employees, retired military, and their families,
\have struck a long-term deal enabling the Chiefs to sell the naming rights to Arrowhead Stadium for the first time.
The agreement calls for GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the franchise, to be renamed beginning with the 2021 National Football League (NFL) season.
As part of the venue’s new identity, the two stated that they were “committed” to maintaining the original name of the building. Matt Derrick of Chiefs Digest claims that keeping the Arrowhead name was “an issue” in previous talks with possible partners.
The Chiefs’ current lease with the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority expires in January, and this agreement will extend until then.
