Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported, that the second overall pick in the 2017 draft, who signed with the Bills after his time with the Bears ended, has agreed to terms to return to the depth chart led by Josh Allen.
Trubisky, who said Buffalo was at the top of his wish list, is set to be the backup quarterback for the Bills once again after doing so in the 2021 season.
He had signed a one-year contract with the Bills to back up Josh Allen during the 2021 season before joining the Steelers in 2022. Trubisky spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh, appearing in seven games with five starts in 2022, and playing in five games with two starts in 2023.
Trubisky started two of five games in 2023, completing 62.6 percent of his passes for 632 yards and four touchdowns against five interceptions. Pittsburgh went 0-2 in his starts.
Before the 2021 season with the Bills, He spent four seasons in Chicago, starting 50 of 51 games before the two parted ways ahead of the campaign. He had entered the NFL in 2017 as the No. 2 overall pick, landing with the Chicago Bears.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane said last week at the NFL scouting combine,
“You have to expect most any quarterbacks going to miss two to four games. We got Trubisky a couple of years ago. We had Case Keenum, who had played a lot the year before. We like to try and have someone in there who’s got some experience because experience is so key to be able to go in there cold, hadn’t got reps all week and go execute. It’s very important.”
Trubisky who had agreed to terms five days before the opening of the legal tampering window is to be a backup for Allen once again.
