The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the 2023 regular season with a winning record, despite having a subpar offense.
They tried to make things work with Kenny Pickett at the helm, but when he didn’t work out, the Steelers had to rely on their defense for the bulk of their production.
New quarterback Russell Wilson is a veteran with much to prove.
Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos in a massive move, but, like Pickett, he didn’t perform as the team had planned, which is a big reason he is on the move.
After seeing this transaction occur, opinions were split around the sports world.
Joy Taylor spoke about the addition of Wilson in a segment of “Speak” on FS1, outlining her thoughts on the matter.
“The difference between now and what they were last year is now they have a real chance to compete in the postseason,” Taylor said.
Wilson hasn’t necessarily played MVP-caliber football over the past several years.
This doesn’t necessarily matter to Taylor because she believes the Steelers have the pieces in place to elevate Wilson’s game.
If the offensive skill-position players rally around him and show faith and trust in him in the locker room, there’s no telling how high this team’s ceiling will be in 2024.
Mike Tomlin tends to lead his teams to records over .500, a mark that Wilson could help them achieve and hopefully lead them to the postseason as well.
