Few players in the National Football League have the drive and motor Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby possesses.
Crosby’s work every season is well-noted. However, the veteran defensive end says keeping the right people around him and protecting his mental state are two reasons for his success.
I’m constantly training my mind, not only from mentors that I have in my corner, from former players, former Hall of Famers — Tim Grover’s in my corner and Aaron Donald’s in my corner,” Crosby said in a press conference on Monday. “I mean, Rod Marinelli is in my corner, and Rick Slate in the weight room’s in my corner. I have dudes who truly have done it at the highest level in all types of sports and activities in general.
“So, I just try to surround myself with greatness at all times. And a guy even off the field, Dana White, Floyd Mayweather, they’re all in my Rolodex of people I talk to, and that’s the only people I want to associate with is people that are on my same wavelength. I think that’s super important, and I’ve talked about it enough – who you surround yourself with.”
Crosby said he is conscious of the people he has around him and that those closest to him — mainly his family — mean the most.
“For me, at the end of the day, if you’re my family or whatever, it doesn’t matter,” Crosby said. “All that matters is the people that are truly there for you. You could have a label as ‘This is my brother, this is my dad,’ whatever.
