BOSTON—Long before the Maple Leafs couldn’t beat Florida in the second round, or lost to Tampa twice in the first round, there was the Boston Bruins.
And now the Bruins — a team that has won the last six head-to-head playoffs matchups going back to 1969 — are back to haunt the Maple Leafs’ fan base.
Although the Leafs broke through by beating Tampa to advance past the opening round for the first time since 2004, there remain more questions than answers about a deeply talented, but sometimes flawed club.
