Basketball and rap music go together. Ballers are often known to listen to the genre while rappers tend to reference NBA stars in their verses. Additionally, big names from both industries associate with each other. Take Drake and LeBron James for example. They’re known friends, and they’ve been seen together multiple times at celebrity-related events. In fact, back in 2018, James was even dancing onstage with Drake and Travis Scott as the rappers performed their viral hit, “SICKO MODE.” However, a recent video of the Los Angeles Lakers star may not be a sight that Drake would enjoy watching.
Amid the rapper’s ongoing beef with fellow industry artist Kendrick Lamar, James was seen dancing to Lamar’s new hit, “Not Like Us.” For those unaware, the song is one of Lamar’s recent diss tracks toward Drake. (clip via NFR Podcast)
It all started in late March, when Lamar went at Drake and J. Cole on Metro Boomin and Future’s track, “Like That.” After Cole responded with “7 Minute Drill,” he immediately made it known that he wasn’t interested in continuing the beef during a concert.
As for Drake and Lamar, the entire thing went back and forth. Throughout April and early May, the rappers continuously released diss tracks that touched on various topics, even going as far as discussing each other’s families. This was mainly seen in Drake’s “Family Matters” and Lamar’s “Meet the Grahams.”
