Kansas City will attempt to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl championships in NFL history in 2024. Kansas City will begin their quest when they face the Baltimore Ravens to kick off the 2024 regular season, the NFL announced Monday.
The game is scheduled to be played on Thursday night, in the league’s annual primetime opener and it will be televised by NBC.
The matchup is a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game, which Kansas City won 17-10 to advance to Super Bowl 58. Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers to capture its second consecutive Super Bowl championship.
Kansas City’s game against the Ravens will feature two of the league’s most dynamic quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Jackson’s won his second NFL Most Valuable Player award last season, but he has struggled in head-to-head matchups against Mahomes, losing three of four games.
This will be the third time in five years Kansas City will play in the NFL season opener. Kansas City defeated the Houston Texans in 2020 and lost to the Detroit Lions in 2023. They are 2-1 in the NFL Kickoff games since it was introduced in 2002.
