CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs have been dealing with the injury bug for most of the season, as has almost all of the NBA, but having Donovan Mitchell miss Game 4 was particularly gut-wrenching.
Mitchell was having a successful series against Boston, scoring well while keeping his teammates involved. The Cavs were learning to play without big man Jarrett Allen and they were getting sharpshooter Dean Wade back after a lengthy absence.
Before the bad news about Mitchell’s injury it seemed like the Cavs had a realistic chance to tie the series at 2-2, especially after blowing out the Celtics in Game 2 in Boston.
So now the Cavs will try to avoid being eliminated in five games in front of a Boston crowd which doesn’t care that Cleveland will likely again be without their leader and top scorer Donovan Mitchell.
