The Dallas Mavericks pulled off an impressive win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night and Kyrie Irving was a big part of it.
The guard scored 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists during the game, second in scoring only behind Luka Doncic.
Irving sounded proud and confident of his team following the win.
According to Legion Hoops, Irving said, “Three to go,” after the victory.
Dallas’ win over Minnesota was something of a surprise because most people thought the Timberwolves were going to walk away with a victory in Game 1.
The game was held in Minnesota and the Timberwolves just celebrated a huge, enthusiastic win over the Denver Nuggets.
Some fans expected them to come into Game 1 with fire in their bellies and a lot of energy.
Instead, Anthony Edwards had an off night and the rest of the roster didn’t show up like the Timberwolves needed.
They kept it close and only lost by three points but now they are down 0-1 with only one more game before heading to Dallas.
Now the Mavericks have reason to believe they can win this series and reach the NBA Finals for the first time in years.
But like Irving said, that’s only possible if they secure three more wins.
Irving has been hit-or-miss so far during the playoffs but he was hugely important to his team on Wednesday night.
Did he just turn a corner and can fans expect to see him play like this a lot more in the games ahead?
If so, Dallas’ three wins will come a lot easier.
