5-Star OT Jackson Cantwell Commits to Georgia Bulldogs in Blockbuster Recruiting Win for Kirby Smart
In a monumental recruiting victory, the Georgia Bulldogs have secured a commitment from Jackson Cantwell, the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-8, 315-pound offensive tackle from Nixa High School in Missouri chose Georgia over a host of elite programs, including Michigan, Miami, Missouri, Ohio State, and Oregon .
Cantwell’s decision is a testament to Georgia’s prowess in developing offensive linemen and its consistent presence in national championship conversations. He expressed admiration for Georgia’s attention to detail and the development work of offensive line coach Stacy Searels, stating, “They do a lot of things right. They do a lot of attention to detail. I like Coach Searels a lot. Coach Searels is definitely one of my favorite O-line coaches I’ve seen so far” .
Beyond football, Cantwell is an accomplished track and field athlete, holding national records in shot put and discus for his age group. His athletic lineage is notable, with both parents being former Olympic shot putters .
