Cole Palmer, a Chelsea midfielder, has disclosed the chat he had with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola before moving to Chelsea.
Palmer left the Premier League champions in the summer for a fee of £42.5 million.
In an interview with Mail Sport, the 21-year-old discussed Guardiola’s ultimatum.
“At first, I didn’t want to leave. I stated I’d go on loan for a year to get ready for first-team football because I didn’t get many minutes [last season].
“But then Pep said, ‘You’re either staying or getting sold,’ and, yeah, I got sold.”
“I was a bit confused why they wouldn’t let me go on loan but [then] I said I wanted to go to Chelsea and I’m glad it’s turned out the way it has,” Palmer said in a statement.
